Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm planning to have a go at Caesar's if I enjoy Ridgeway... ;-)

I'm definitely *not* doing Caesar's. I have loved all the races I've done this year so much, and I've realised that it's because that's the type of running I love - point to point, out and back, or a big loop over beautiful trails. CC doesn't fit into that profile with it's twisty 10 lap MOD course, and the only reason I'd be doing it is to get the 100.

I'm no longer chasing numbers, just running cos I love it :)

Fair enough Jen. I'm looking forward to doing the South Downs Way that you're organising - will that be 100? Or more? ;-)

It'll be pretty bang on, as my plan is to start and finish at the exact start and finish of the SDW, which itself is 100 miles. Probably looking at 2011, although I may try and get something for next year if I'm not doing Double Iron.

Jen - I'll never try CC for exactly the same reason. There are plenty of ways I can run 100 and enjoy it, so why do one I won't.

I spoke to someone on the gucr this year about doing the spartathlon. He said if you are doing that DON'T do what all the other brits do and run Ridgeway.

But I Might?

I don't know whether to start in the sub 24hour or 24+ start time. This will be the longest race I've done by far so not sure how to estimate. Where are others starting?

if you're not sure, I'd go for the 10am start. It gives you more daylight, and even if you come in under 23 hours you probably won't be challenging for prizes so the time penalty doesn't matter. For your first one the time is probably irrelevant - finishing will be your goal?

Oh, welcome to fetch too.

I'm thinking that maybe a shorter day might lead to feeling less dead during the early part of night. ?

24 hours ought to be long enough baring problems and then the extra 2 hours quite probably won't be enough to help!
