You should have got an email I think, from Anthony. And your cheque will have been cashed - mine was on 23rd March, shortly after I posted my entry.

(Yes I keep a record of these things. I have to with so many races :p)

Question for anyone doing Ridgeway 85 who also is used to doing lots of marathons:

are you planning to taper for this?

I know lots of us are happy to just rock up at the start of a marathon or ultra without having tapered or done anything different in training, but 85 seem like a big number - enough to make it worth a few adjustments to training over the summer?

If I did any regular training, yes I would taper. No more than 12 milers for the two weeks before.

Last year I entered the Belper Rugby Rover the weekend before which was 19 miles, but I did the first 6 miles, then ran back to the start and cheered people in. This year it's two weeks before :)

Speaking as one who didn't finish last year...

Taper??? :-o I wouldn't do any punishing runs the week before but if you're regularly running marathon like distances then you know how long you need to recover between. Treat the 85 as if it's another marathon - it just happens to be a dashed long one!

Probably better to listen to Jen though - she finished last year after cruising cooly past us in the dark hours.

I'm doing the Salisbury thing again as my last race then training normally till the week of the where I'll cut back to about 20 miles and the race.
