Just caught up with this. Such a shock. I never met him, but he always had a kind word on my blogs and photos. Loved his photography too.

RIP.

I've sent a text message to his mobile in the hope that a relative will pick up the message. I'll let you know if I get anything back.

Thanks Pinks. I do somehow hope somebody finds out how much he was thought of.

I keep thinking I shouldn’t be this upset about someone I only really knew virtually (I only met him once, very briefly) but I am. He was such a big part of this place and his absence will be keenly felt.

He was one of the most supportive Fetchies on the site and I hope somehow those that he was important to in the real world get to hear how much he was loved in this virtual world.

I met him once - very briefly - I was running the London Marathon in 2012. I was having a horrible run and really struggling. Someone tapped me on the shoulder and said 'BaronessBL?' I was quite shocked and said yes and he introduced himself as Swittle (Steve) gave me a few words of encouragement and carried on. I've always remembered that meeting and that little moment of kindness when things had got tough.

RIP Swittle and thank you for all you gave to the Fetch community.

This has come as a huge shock 😥 I first met Swittle at the Yorkie and had the honour of running the Baildon Boundary Way with him, where his love of history was so evident as he regaled me with so many stories of the places we passed by. He was in a class of his own. Someone who had overcome his own demons and loved his new life. I'll miss him ... x

Such sad news. Always such a friendly and enthusiastic person.

I'll remember him from an amusing moment on a Yorkshireman recce, where a badger we'd disturbed awake in the daylight, it went barrelling off with Steve in pursuit trying to get a photo!

RIP Steve

About This Thread

Maintained by Lip Gloss
Never met him in person but always came across as a lovely man.

If you read about his nightly beach runs you could almost have been running along beside him.

He always encouraged others especially on the How was your run thread.

Hope all your beach run are still as perfect as they were while you were here xx

Funeral 5th April 1.30pm at the Thornton Garden of Rest, Lydiate Ln, Thornton, Liverpool L23 1TP
