Derby Tup
Hill reps with club last night. Warm up, 10 x relatively short hills (0.07 mile / 46 ft climb, so to me between sprint and endurance), then cool down. I didn’t bury myself but did push # 3, 6 and 9 a bit harder while still thinking about form. Hard but fun with there being around 8 or 9 of us although again somehow felt I should have tried more

I have an attempt at Quality to declare. I decided once I'd started my run today that since it had to be quite short, because I didn't set out till after 11pm (THAT is NOT Quality, that is GETTING DISTRACTED), I'd do some efforts and recoveries. 10 x 0.25 mile efforts with 0.25 mile recoveries. That I did it is what matters; anything else is small print.

11pm? 11am! I HAVE set out to run after 11pm back in the days when I was young and determined, but speedwork by torchlight would be an excess of Quality and a face/ground interface hazard.

My legs have just stopped hurting from the weekend. I knew that the pain following unaccustomed trail running would exceed the gain so I can't grumble about it.

DT -as described that hill session was genuine quality. My friend and coach Steve, who knows a thing or two, says it’s no bad thing to leave a hard session thinking you ‘could’ have done more. Probably means in training terms you got it just right. So there!

Strength training today. Achieved this current phase's deadlift goal in the third week (out of a 6-8 week phase). Need to reset my goal for the rest of this phase now. Nice place to be.
