Agree it's more interesting for the watcher, and if that's what it's about, then great. But the TTer in me (albeit from my triathlon days a long long time ago) says that the crit style course isn't really what TTing is about. But it's a personal call. |

The Glasgow city centre course was just for the mixed team time trial. I'm not sure they're actually taken that seriously compared to other events. The main ITTs are on something closer to a more conventional sporting course out by Stirling cyclingworldchamps.com |

The road surface between here and Dunblane is brutal as well. They’re probably just fannying about 😀 Seen them both with their team car the other day a few times. |

A day at the cycling today in Dumfries. Hot and sunny. But unfortunately not 4 out of 4. 'only' a silver today. But being upset wtih second at a WC is a bit greedy. Also met Jenny's parents, and had a good long chat with Katie's parents. Back on Saturday for the road race |

Other than Katie and Linda or Eve have beaten Sophie and Jenny in each time trial this year, the excuse/reason is probably the 2 extra days in Glasgow doing the track sprint, rather than out on the Dumfries road. But equally, Katie's Dad (being Irish) was quite vocal/jealous of GB's level of funding. The Irish team don't have a track tandem, they have to beg and borrow one. They crowd fund their road bikes. So have a very different style and approach. And interesting to see the difference between the full GB professional squad and tent etc, vs mid tier teams, and then down to (eg) Thailand - a camper van in the car park with the turbo tandem on the side before the race But all round, all very happy people, all willing to chat. Most spent lots of time being asked for selfies. Even by the volunteers & security team. All the cyclists, outside their team prep & wind down areas, mixing and chatting and photo-bombing with everyone - other teams, disciplines, public etc. |
