Sophie and Jenny were incredible! In some ways I’m more impressed because I’ve read Um’s comments about them not expecting to win. And there’s still the road events to come!

larkim - going back a few pages. They initially chose the older spoke front wheel as they're easier to handle / steer at speed (with the tight Glasgow bends). And they'd never ridden the 5 spoke before.

I heard the name Sophie Unwin during the TV coverage and made a Fetch connection, um. Exciting racing, crowned in gold

Unbelievable. I suspect they were instructed not to say 'the sprint was just for fun' on national TV It may have started out as that, but the emotional release on the Track suggested they were really pleased.
It was fabulous to watch. And kudos to the teams racing so hard and close on tandems. That is SO impressive

That’s me at my Dad’s for the week. Might get to meet Sophie and Jenny as I’m volunteering as part of the Anti Doping Team. Hoping I’ll get to see some action.

Seen Wout Van Aert and a team mate a few times today when I was out on my ride.
Team car following behind. There were quite a few cyclists and team cars on the route doing a recce for later in the week.
A lassie asked for directions, but I’ve nae idea of most of the road numbers bar the main ones.
There’s a local climb called the Top of the World as we were going up some guys were coming down at great doors.

I met some of the Spanish riders Friday in Kirkintilloch. Either lost or looking for a post ride pint in the Kirky Puffer.

57.5 Degrees of Pain
With lots of laps there was the chance to take a few pics as well as just cheer on the field as they hammered up the nasty little Scott Street climb. The first four home and another Belgian (Benoot I think, but could be Stuyven).

Sadly I was too slow to get a shot of Julian Alaphillipe wheelying up the hill shortly before he withdrew. He got a huge response, especially from the French guys I was in the midst of.
