I wouldn't rule that out, tbh. I mean, have you been there? |

We should consider selling everywhere north of Bedford to Norway. No bad ideas in a brainstorm. |

Should that not be up to the people who live there? (Genuine question)

It’s the obvious follow up question (or Gibraltar). Though the situation is very different.

that's the argument generally used, but should that question equally apply to West Bank settlers?

The people displaced weren't involved in this deal or guaranteed the right to return which seems wrong. Chagossians criticise lack of say in UK deal to hand over islands bbc.co.uk Human Rights Watch called for the Chagossians to be consulted on the deal. Clive Baldwin, senior legal advisor at the organisation, said the deal did not "guarantee that the Chagossians could return to their homeland", and "appears to explicitly ban them from the largest island, Diego Garcia, for another century". He called for reparations for those who were displaced. Mr Baldwin called for meaningful consultations with the Chagossians. He said unless this happened, the UK, US and now Mauritius would be responsible for "a still ongoing colonial crime". |

Perhaps but lets keep in mind that the current population are British settlers, it's not like it's an indigenous population. I have no idea if anyone was stupid enough to live there before the brits turned up and nicked it or if everyone is squabbling over a crappy lump of rock
