It's the "noise" that would be terrifying. Jan 6th would be a calm day out with the WI by comparison.

Statistically speaking being president is the most dangerous job in the USA.

Out of 46 presidents (actually only 45 people because Cleveland counts twice) four have been assassinated and another 4 have died in office.

Only 9 UK sitting MPs have been assassinated/murdered, according to Wikipedia. That includes one Prime Minister, back in 1812.

Definitely a better bet than serving as POTUS.

I missed the word "recently". I meant in the last few years. Was just contrasting the thread to Trump and others in US politics with our very actual deaths in UK and avoiding glass house pitfall!

Starmer considering swapping Rwanda for Albania for migrant processing. No, bring them here legally, process them quickly and humanely. The tiny percentage who don't qualify for asylum (more than 80% do qualify after processing?), send them back. Hmm.

The most dangerous job in the world is apparently logging. (* I'm not entirely convinced giving soldiers, etc, don't appear on any of the lists but logging is down on multiple sources so I'm going with it)

Anyway death rate of 111 per 100,000

US president (I'm counting assassination only) is 8888 per 100,000.

Quite the challenge. I suspect there's some (many?) countries with worse chances.

My out of date copy of the Guinness Book of World Records says it's a 3-way tie between USA, Spain and Dominican Republic!

Mind you, there's an urban myth to the effect that many beavers are also killed by falling trees. Maybe it's nature's way of saying "gerroff!".
