I think Shania could do a nice re-work for the previous Conservative government.

As someone pointed out, he enobled Ross Kempsall who is only 1 year older than Owen, and though his career was slightly better documented, he'd not done "enough" to earn the seat in the Lords either. But as he wasn't female and didn't have a surname which happened to be the same as the maiden name of one of Johnson's ex-es, no aspersions were cast, certainly not in the same way as they were for Owen. I know Johnson is just about stupid enough to think that if he did want to "hide away" an undocumented child or someone he'd had an affair with he could do it "in plain sight", but those theories stretch credulity to me. I suspect it's far more likely that he just made the decisions in a cavalier way based on what had taken place probably the morning of his decision making. And now he's probably quite enjoying seeing Twitter get worked up about theories as to who she is / what she did to deserve it. |

Lewis Goodall on the US elections: "Harris has firmly put the Dems back in the race but only that. There's been no polling break post-convention, if anything Trump has been inching back. Pre-eminent US pollster Nate Cohn: "In the era of modern polling, there’s never been an election when the final polls showed the race as close as it is today — not in 2000, 2004 or 2012, let alone 2016 or 2020."" *** As I said before, doesn't matter what the result is in the other states, 7 states decide this election, and quite probably just one. Pennsylvania. Which is currently polling within the margin of error for either side depending on the pollster. |

Still can't believe it remains as close as that. Lets just hope Harris does well on Tuesday and then they can pile the money into the necessary battlegrounds.

Crikey look at the things that changed people's minds according to JLP Pollsters, some outright lies: x.com (apologies for just link, it's a graphic). This is why it's an uphill struggle. It's seen as a "change election" and Trump I see elsewhere is the candidate perceived as offering change (50% to 25%). |

I know our electoral system is daft, but with it always coming down to a two horse race, the US system really does set itself up to divide the country 50 50 in an adversarial way, doesn't it? They need consensus and coalition as much as the rest of the world does. I don't believe in you know who, but please (insert belief system here) don't let Trump win again. Grrr. |

It’s entrenched as well. The core republicans and democrats that don’t budge is huge.

I don't see why two choices should automatically lead to 50/50 spilt any more than 3 or 4 choices could split evenly.
