Hard agree. Men who throw their money away on games of chance *always* think they have a secret sauce. They don't.

Anyone who thinks the betting markets are significantly wrong can of course just go and pick up the free money that’s lying there waiting for them.

Turns out that Silver, whilst running 538, was obsessively betting on various things (mostly NBA games)..... It has been suggested that he might have a slight issue |

As mentioned before by me, there are gaps between the betting markets and the opinion polls. I have made small amounts of money on this in the last two US elections (mid terms and 2020). I have basically wagered the opinion polls are better than the betting markets, and they were. As for free money - the odds are such, you'd have to throw a lot of money at it, to make a lot of money, and I'm not ready to do that. Nate has been captured by his new republican paymasters it seems since leaving 538.

Funny how the conspiracy theories about "she's his daughter" or "there's a super injunction in place" etc won't disappear on twitter, despite the utter absence of any such super-injunction busting stuff being published in the press overseas etc. I'm coming to the conclusion that she was picked just because his chaotic mind just landed on her as having done "something" half decent (in his view) at some point, and there's probably little more to it than that. At least this latest story brings it back to the fore! |

The most convincing suggestion I've read is that Johnson picked her just to make fun of the Lords.

“Something” half-decent wouldn’t get any normal person made a baroness. Hard to imagine there isn’t anything scandalous, there seems to be dirt behind just about everything else he’s done.

Doing it "just to take the piss" isn't a good reason either.

He did it to impress her.
