The implication that McSweeney himself masterminded a campaign (but they only gesture that way, but I picked up on the hint) to make sure Corbyn didn't win in 2019 (so 5 years of Boris they preferred), I found pretty awful. If true. But yeah no reason it isn't plausible at least.

Wasn't it Corbyn who masterminded the campaign to make sure Corbyn didn't win in 2019?

Oh yeah Corbyn walked into every trap possible, and I don't think it was the anti-semitism row that did for him, it was his flippant attitude to the Russian involvement Salisbury poisonings that saw his popularity nosedive faster than a meteorite, I believe if you look at his popularity drop in a graph, it maps to the same month. But a party working against itself looks ... well looks pretty much like the one we've got in power now.

'twas ever thus in the Labour party. cf. The Searchers @Chrisull most of that (as far as I have plodded through) is about the scheming / plotting / politicking of people like Benn, Livingstone, McConnell to undermine others and achieve control themselves.

I don't think we pretend it doesn't exist. The EU isn't a finished project. But if you're saying the EU incubates and creates this and makes it worse? Nah, I don't accept that. |

I don't think you can really compare what's going on currently to the Corbyn years. People are fighting for power in Starmer's administration whereas people were fighting from the start within the Labour party to stop Corbyn ever succeeding. It's silly to pretend it never happened and never made the job harder especially as whenever the left say something everyone is quick to highlight it. We point out when the press seem to hold Labour to a higher standard than the Tories. So it definitely happened, but it is possible to claim it's justified after all most people here would agree with Republicans actively trying to stop Trump as a danger to democracy etc. |

The EU created freedom of movement which provided a wider pool of workers to exploit so yes you should accept that I know you liberals get misty eyed about Erasmus and so on but this is what it looks like for working class people |
