JB - If Trump loses, he will have less he can do it about, he won't be in control of the levers of state, unlike last time.
Will he live to run in 2028? I mean Biden is a relatively trim, and until recently youthful 80+ year old. Trump doesn't look after himself, sooner or later age has to catch up with him.

Harris has not had a clean run in her VP role "I've not been to the border in fact I've never been to Europe" and R4 explained how her own go at Democrat nominee in the past was a bit of a car crash. Will be interesting to see who she can get as her own running mate.
Interesting side note from a US friend is that Trumps rallies are now all at outdoor parks and not stadia as in 2016 as he has no money and can't secure the hires.

Oh, I agree. Personally he is coming from a more diminished position for sure, but MAGA is much stronger and more deranged now than in 2020. Who knows how it will pan out. I’d like to think that sooner or later the party will have the guts to tell him to take a hike, but they are filled with creeps and cowards.

There's been no indication that Michelle Obama wants to stand, that's just a pipe dream that some people want it seems.
Pelosi apparently doesn't want a coronation and wants some sort of process to select the successor, whether that's for appearance sake or because she has someone else in mind, I'm not sure. Possible Obama wants the same.

Trump has crazy energy, like the bloke in the middle of the roundabout yelling at the traffic, but I am convinced like you that he isn’t a terribly fit man - not many men are at his age, to be fair.
Plus he has had a Brush With Death, which may also factor in in the longer term. He looked fairly melancholy at times during the convention. Perhaps he has had some rare moments of self-reflection - a memento mori can do that to a person.

The Michelle Obama thing is a pipe dream. Won’t happen. But a Trumpling in 2028? Watch this space.

Interesting how quickly things have turned round. 24h ago it was still the forlorn resigned line "we have to stick with Biden he's the only show in town". Now there's some real optimism and unity.
She might lose of course, but sometimes you have to actually try to do what is right rather than triangulating what you believe the electoral calculus indicates.

Pelosi and (B) Obama are the party grandees and can count votes. They'll be very careful not to endorse anyone before it's clear there are no obvious challengers.
All the likely alternatives have endorsed Harris, which should scare off anyone but the fringe lunatics.
M Obama is never going to stand.

So all good then. It looks like Harris with some formal dotting the i's and crossing the t's by some of the party grandees.
And yes Harris didn't cover herself in glory in the last campaign, but campaigns are over estimated, they make little difference. Being an outsider, to having the fully weight of the Democratic party machinery are two very different things

Election is over anyway. Kerry Katona has publicly backed Trump!
