I'm sure all the children in poverty are feeling much better now. Because, obviously, their situation has changed markedly for the better.
Meanwhile a "Govt Spokesman" has said that the govt's position is the same as it was before.

Currently been in power for *checks notes* 18 days. Child benefit cap was introduced *checks notes again* 7 years ago and a Tory/Reform govt would have never considered reversing it.
There is no equivalence here.

I mean if we're going to jump on one statement after months of saying it can't happen because of money, etc, what's the difference between y'all and the MAGA crowd in terms of accepting reality? Y'all acting like it's a football team instead of dealing with things on their merit. Spin doctors would be proud.
Fields constantly gets criticism for spin stuff in here (and rightly so) so is that wrong or is it just for the wrong side?
If they do come round those internally and externally that kept the pressure up deserve credit for not accepting the first answer.

Might be an idea to accept a bit of good news now and again. But it seems like the jaded and the cynical won’t give credit for anything good - because it challenges their own worldview that nothing good will come out of a Labour government. It’s already happening. Get used to it.
