Yes, probably. I guess no-one cared that George Washington had no kids...

bbc.co.uk Left without comment. Because the usual suspects will be along to say that the new Labour govt aren't doing anything positive. |

RE: Harris. The commentary I've seen has a mild desperation to it from Trump world and pleasantly positive from the Democrat world

Can’t believe they didn’t close it down on the day of the election. Laggards dragging their feet again.

Good to hear energy and optimism from Democrats re Harris. Is Obama last big name not yet to endorse her candidacy? And hilarious that Trump wants to sue for wasted money on anti Biden campaigning. Love it! Could she do this? How fab would that be? And then 2 x terms and Trump (snr) can't come back. I heard a Republican voter (intelligent, reasonable sounding man) say " we wanted new blood on both sides". Could it be there are former Republican supporters who would go to "new" over "old"? |

A healthy majority didn't want a Trump/Biden rematch. Some of them didn't want to vote for either. The Calculus has been up ended now.

A good 60% + of Americans "hate" Trump. They have a reason to vote now.

I didn’t like our choice of Sunak/Starmer though at least we had the pretence of other options. I’d rather have voted for either of them over Biden/Trump.

Trump is broadly as unpopular now as he was when he lost to Biden in 2020: realclearpolling.com The challenge for Harris is that she has a similar unfavourable rating, but a lesser favourable one: realclearpolling.com *However* health warning - this only tells you a +/- -> it doesn't tell the strength of opinion and I would estimate that the strength of opinion on Trump > Harris. Trump clearly has a ceiling of ~46% of the vote - he got that in 2016 and in 2020 and the opinion polling has him around that number. Harris should have a higher ceiling, but it comes down to turnout and geographical spread. No point racking up votes in NY and CA - she needs WI, MI, PA, NV, AZ, GA, MN and NV. |

I'd have taken Biden over Sunak any day. Hard right Brexit idiot who was presiding over a dysfunctional government remember. This idea that he was some kind of centre-right technocrat is a fair bit of spin. Biden might be losing it, but I'd rather have had him if it were a choice of Sunak or Biden. |
