It this really Labour's first test? news.sky.com Even if I get this, I don't think it still covers simply the mortgage increases from last year. |

Sky, part of Murdochs empire, that loved the Tories, now on the side of the civil service that they spent 14 years tearing down? Oh how times change |

Yes, Times Radio, again Murdoch, was the main place I'd seen it labelled as "Labour's first test". Not sure it really is, especially given the Israel discussion above. Certainly a challenge to balance the books. It also mentions the teacher pay, I think fozzy insinuated at that too. |

It would be expensive, but feels about right, between 10% and 2% that inflation has been for last 12 months. And fozzy, re Israel I don't know who you have read expecting UK or US to magically end war in Gaza, but it certainly wasn't what I said. UK and US could stop selling arms, use normal diplomatic pressures such as withdrawing ambassadors, sanctions against companies and individuals etc. All countries need to take a much stronger line against State of Israel's illegal actions in Palestine. |

Unfortunately they're pulling the same sleight of word all governments do, which is disappointing. They say 'public sector workers' and the public at large assumes that means everyone in the employ of the state. What they actually are talking about are teachers and nurses. Easy good news story that would cost bugger all in the scheme of things. |

It wouldn't include academics, for sure. We've already had our pay offer

Our pay offer is last so it probably doesn't involve us either.
