Also couple more points, the last two JSO protestors jailed last year, for something like 2 or 3 years (which was considered excessive at the time, and was argued would be a deterrent), they were refused the right to appeal. Second Starmer in 2022 was on record saying that protesters who glue themselves to roads should be given longer sentences. So for those expecting appeal/leniency from new government will probably be disappointed. |

Can we have a poll - is blocking the M25 with cars several times a day an acceptable act of pollution?

No offence but the options don't reflect what's fully available to the judiciary there. Control orders are a thing, also community orders with different elements including tagging are available. |

@Fields , this is what you said: "Governments are happy to pay for bombs and missiles and increase defence spending to cause more wars, wars which are entirely due to scarcity of resources caused by climate change" Why might we assume you are excluding Ukraine from that? |

So for those expecting appeal/leniency from new government will probably be disappointed. Starmer's time at DPP suggests he's not likely to do that at all. Depends what happens with his ideas for prison / any prison reforms. But no, I'm not expecting any reductions in sentencing for protestors. |

I was on holiday in Southwold last week and I saw a woman eating an ice cream who had an ankle tag on. Ankle tags in Southwold? I never saw the like. |
