Chrisull wrote: Many I think are in favour of wind farms and solar farms - until someone wants to build one in their area. Interesting side note: this even seems to include the Greens, who are blocking above ground pylons in the Waveney Valley constituency. First time I met our Green parliamentary candidate was at a planning meeting where he was arguing against a new wind farm. It's (one of) the real nimbyism dilemma for many of the greens. My argument with this one was it was on farmland, which to me is essentially a monoculture industrial landscape. |

I've voted suspended sentence, but I would caveat that with I'd want to read more details about the actual trial and the evidence as there may be confounding factors that make me less sympathetic generally to the protestors. But in principle, I would argue that for protest offences suspending a sentence, with the recognition that a second offence would result in a custodial one, is the right approach. But I can't ignore that I am biased because I support their cause, in principle. If protesters were doing this, say, to protest against retaining the ban on the death penalty, I might have a different view.

It’s almost like you can move Labour back towards the centre and still implement the kind of socially-progressive policies beloved by the left (but we’ll ignore it or discount it if you do it, Starmo, obvs). Who saw that one coming eh? |

I wasn’t there and I ain’t a-gonna pass sentence on em on that basis, even theoretically. |
