What, you mean our fishing industry was on its arse *before* we joined the EEC?

It's amazing how former fishing communities (and I live in one) seem to have completely forgotten the bogeyman that was the Icelandic coastguard the second Brussels came along.

Well, the Icelandic coastguard and the USA, to be fair.

Don't forget Dan Hannan's other gem of a speech:

"Absolutely no is talking about threating our place in the single market"

Hannan's speech was mediocre at best - it basically said we're not happy with the EU's direction, so despite having had significant influence over what it became and where it will go, we are going to leave and so throw out the baby with the bath water - the trade was the only bit which we really liked and was all we were ever interested in.

Better than Farage's but that is setting a pretty low bar.

Hannan is a long-time MEP who seems to be widely regarded as one of the intellectuals in the Conservative party.

Which says it all really. I mean, he's not one of the frothing Little Englander racists, but that's about all that I can say in his favour.

Loving Farage and his cohorts winding up Presiding Speaker of the EU Parliament , Mairead McGuinness .I think we've heard just about enough anti-Brexit rhetoric from this prissy , smug , hectoring , Irish schoolmarm ( McGuinness , not Farage )

Wow. Even Stander hasn't been on to defend Farage's display yesterday.
