I really don't like flag waving, and in the EU parliament waving flags at our friends is divisive and childish.

Is it just me, or does Farage grate on your nerves? I'd rather listen to someone run their fingernails down a blackboard for twenty minutes than listen to a word that tw*t says (please insert your own choice of vowel) :-). |

Something to do with diesel, rich. Something to do with diesel. Don't worry about it.

I'm always amazed at how patient the EU parliament are with his (Farage's) antics. Contrast the behaviour of the BP yesterday with the dignified and regretful language from other European representatives. Farage has no class. He's a loudmouth and a bully. I suspect there are elements in the EU who are relieved that we are finally leaving simply because it means he won't be there any more. Personally I'm resigned to what's about to take place. I won't be making any grand gesture. I don't see it as a seminal moment. I'm sure some will celebrate. Well good luck to them. The real work starts here... |

Johnson's never done a real day's work in his life. He'll just blame the EU for everything and his obedient little proles will lap it up.

It will be interesting to see whether approving HS2 today will be the beginning of end of the Cummings/Boris bromance. Now that Javid has come out in support of it I'm expecting there will be a fudge similar to Huawei, i.e "we'll continue for now but keep reviewing the costs...." The carpet is going to look decidedly lumpy soon with having so many things brushed under it! |

Is that the speech where Hannan said "It's irresponsible to scare EU nationals in the UK by hinting that their status might change after Brexit. No one's suggesting such a thing." Yup. Great speech. Destined to go down in the annals of history. There should be a CD of it, like Churchill. The latest joke, sorry, plan, for HS2 is that it will be split into 3 parts, with a small part still called "HS2" and coming in at the right budget, and two new extra projects with different names tacked on to the ends. Of course the tabloids will celebrate wildly that Johnson has "got it done" under budget and on time. |

Talking of childish flag waving, this nasty little country has been doing it for years, in the early 70s (under Labour I note as well), our fishing trawlers mocked the Icelandic coastguard by playing Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory - until they cut our trawl wires (ha!): twitter.com The whole sad story of how we lost (and deserved to lose) the Icelandic cod wars is told here: twitter.com |
