The Ultra-Brexiteers, and now quite a lot of them that aren't ultra-, are hoping that if they stay quiet that we'll just drift out of the EU without a deal when the transition period ends and nobody will notice. If anything, anything at all good is to come of this, I hope it is that the country as a whole, and by country I mean England because everywhere else in the UK seems to have cottoned on to the fact that they're a bunch of lying chancers, finally sees this shower for what they are and the damage they have caused, and they NEVER get voted in again. One can but hope. |

Unfortunately, Dave, that's not what history of post-WW2 elections suggests. And given the Loyal Opposition are in complete disarray and look like they might be for some considerable time, I'm not sure there is any silver lining to be found. 😣 |

I'm assuming they're getting absolutely panned for this by the Telegraph, Mail, Sun and Express? Otherwise it would be utterly hypocritical of these newspapers, wouldn't it, having torn into Labour for just such policies?

There is that, but then again it is not exactly the same thing as Labour would seek to nationalise forever whilst the Tories stated aim is still to get some public/private arrangement in place at some stage.

Not that there was any doubt. But it’s done. EU ratified. |

So are Arriva (who ran Northern) going to be excluded from bidding for any Rail franchises in the future?

So we now enter a longish period of uncertainty where we take EH rules but have no say in making them, and negotiate trade agreements to replace the ones we already had. <Sigh>. |
