Any suggestions that the LP elect someone from a demographic / minority / gender etc is only really electioneering on their behalf.
That said, there might be merits on being a woman facing up to Boris on a regular basis - he might just slip up and "Bad Boris" (cf. Dead Ringers) might emerge by mistake and generate a narrative which does encourage more women voters to back Labour. Even if we wish to be completely blind to differences of background, gender, colour etc, I don't think it is too cynical to recognise that *sometimes* there may be advantages to using that to political advantage.
I agree - RL-B didn't perform well in this campaign in the main.
Blair emerged "before his time" to a degree with the death of John Smith, so wasn't tarred with being seen to have been engineering his position in the party, and the need for a new leader was unexpected. It's harder to see anyone currently having the mass of all three arms of the Labour electorate behind them at the moment, and it may well not happen until further into this Parliament.

The pigs in blanket thing has been doing the rounds in various formats for a few months now.
Personally, I plan to have a Brexit Christmas dinner. It's the same as a normal Christmas dinner, except no Brussels.

Surely the next Labour leader should be the best person for the job? Whether they come from the North, South, Midlands, wherever. Be they black, white or brown, straight, or LGBT.

If 37.3% isn't a majority of the country I don't know what is.
As Leave were very clear that leaving, would be 'not quite as bad as the blitz' and 'take 50 years to recover from', the people who stayed at home only have themselves to blame.
Quite high for a general election the Conservatives have absolute power with the backing of less than 30% of the electorate.

Ally-C, you're being sensible again. Stop it straight away, or you won't be allowed to play ....
Such apparent common sense has bypassed the majority of the political party organisations and many businesses for years, but if they get a minority or female leader in any form they're quick to play the "look at us- we do diversity" card.
Cynical? Moi?

They should of course Ally-C - but being the best for a job where you have to develop an image which encourages people to vote for you might also include recognising that certain people can draw certain elements of the electorate into the fold which others can't, perhaps by reason of gender / ethnicity / sexuality etc. I'm all for a completely blind choice, but there's no harm in recognising potential "added bonuses" too which might make the choice even more compelling.

^ Sometimes by trying to pick what the electorate want and being cute, you make a mess of it. Playing it simple can work imho.
