The good news about these new notes is that presumably it survived the wash cycle? It's only a small victory, but do enjoy the unexpected bonus. |

Whether the majority of the country want Brexit or not, it's pretty clear that it is likely not far off a 50:50 split either way. The problem all along has been people calling a narrow majority a clear mandate to enact the most extreme policies. Much like the Tories now with support from 44% of the people who chose to vote. More than 50% voted against them and it looks like they will be ignored. Tell me again how the 2019 vote is a majority for Brexit? |

bbc.co.uk It's definitely more nuanced than a majority FOR or AGAINST Brexit. Even with the referendum and the GE result. WE can disappear down rabbit holes arguing about share of popular vote etc, but I think what is clear is that there are sizeable core rumps on both side which have failry intractable views about it. |

Neither of those election results prove that the "majority of the country" want anything, when you consider that the population of the country is 66.44 million. That doesn't require critical thinking. That requires maths. 33..22+1 is the majority. Not 13,966,565, or 17,410,742 Only your interpretation of the statistics implies that the "majority of the country want Brexit" |

Stander: "Shall we start with the - oft cited as fact in here - lie that the majority of the country didn't want Brexit?" I can see see why you would say that, Stander, but I really don't think it's anything like as clear cut as you think it is. Much talk has been made of this having been the Brexit election, in effect a second referendum. But beyond the empty soundbite of 'Get Brexit Done', the Conservatives and right wing press (along with Jo Swinson) pretty well ignored Brexit as an issue and concentrated their electioneering on presenting the awful prospect of the bogeyman Corbyn becoming PM, and polls on the day after the election suggest the party leaders were much more important in deciding which way people voted than Brexit was. Lovable floppy-haired buffoon Boris, who tells jokes and gets things done, or ghastly 1970s throwback Marxist Corbyn, who is going to nationalise everything and ban laughter. So no, I don't think the election quite works as a kind of proxy 2nd referendum, and the majority for the Conservatives cannot simply be read as a majority for Leave. On the other hand, it is also clear that there was no overwhelming support for Remain. |

If it's a Scottish (or Irish) fiver, I'd spent it quick whilst we still accept their currency. |

At this point the election vote has decided the future of the United for now K. We've played our Joker, however the US will Trump the economy. The media has helped normalise Xenophobic thoughts and has been against the EU for a long time... even though it has bolstered our economy. The national Singapore newspaper even added to the UK election news (by way of quoting an economics professor)...essentially with Brexit the UK will have to renegotiate its position with every country it wants to trade with and that the UK will learn that it has less bargaining power without the EU. Actually folk who are interested cannot believe that people want Brexit here. |
