Childish policies like "abolish private schools" aren't sensible. That's simply student union mutterings without any idea of the consequences. What he should have said is that we will make state schools better.

I've got a Tory voting friend with libertarian type ideas who agrees with me on abolishing private schools.
Inherited (and parental) Wealth *should not* give advantage to one's outlook in life. And education is the core part of that.
It's not that private education is any better than state education - it's the extra curricular opportunities that are not afforded to private schoolees that I hate.

Essentially offering everyone a 25% pay rise as an example for me left Corbyn and Labour as almost comic like and completely un-votable.
Free broadband for all.
Re-nationalise anything and everything we can get our hands on.

I actually agree Fozzy in a way re private schools. If I got a full scholarship to a top public school, I’d probably still have the wrong clothes / not be able to afford the ski trip / week in Rock with the chaps. That said my dad worked his way out of the slums thanks to a full assisted place. Tricky one. Counter argument is everyone educated privately saves tax payer money. Most successful of my uni peer group went to a comprehensive...

Robert peston just said something pretty scary. This is heading to be the largest tory majority since the Thatcher years. Now I wasnt alive for the Thatcher years, but I'm from Liverpool, and know that weren't a good time. So if those goes anything like that, then I'm not looking forward to it.

If you can offer to spend about £500 billion on stuff that people actually want and still lose, the obvious lesson is that people see through the bullshit and realise that we don't actually have a spare £500 billion lying around. (Even if we tax a handful of billionaires who will have already left the country before any Marxist steps through the door of 10 Downing Street).
