I also think the private tution market is like the wild west - and needs heavily regulating.

Very true fozzy. Many must be Ideologically committed to state education but tutor to bridge the gap.

A lot of the deltas between Labour and Conservative numbers in the NE are bridged and exceeded by the Brexit party result. Interesting and maybe a trend that could mean the red wall manages to see off some breaches.

Labours language is fairly unequivocal bout the final result but it’s clear the big beasts on Jezzas flank of Labour want him gone, maybe to ensure Long-Bailey gets a coronation.

The difference is the cost. Many lower middle class parents cannot afford private schools, but *do* pay for private tution.

But it's a completely unregulated sector.

And again it's an extra advantage for those who have wealth compared to those who don't.

And that's why I strongly disagree with it.

(bear in mind that it's an area I *could* make a career in - but the thought of just providing tutition to middle class kids who already have everything makes me not want to do it. If it were with disadvantaged kids in a 1-to-1 capacity, I'd be very happy to do it - but no-one wants to pay for that).

(Difference between Private tutition and private schools).

Mike - yes, stopping the tax breaks of private schools would be a good start. But ideologically I'd like to see them abolished.

Corbyn's failure is that everyone could see that his campaign was completely unrealistic. If he'd have run on the basis of 1.we will have a referendum on brexit. 2. We will increase taxes a bit to spend more money on vital public services eg Schools and NHS then they would have won hands down. The Labour Party needs a moderate leader. Spending hundreds of billions on trains, utilities etc just doesn't appeal to most people. I catch trains about 3 or 4 times a year at the most and spend about £40 per year. I have no inclination to spend £100 billion to nationalise railways. I can understand why he appeals to London voters as everyone travels by train in London, but he's totally out of touch with the rest of the country.

Ironically he doesn’t really need to appeal to London voters as Labour have London largely sewn up.

Prof Curtice has begun to dial down the 86 majority, based on more diverse results than NE seats, TMW has already commented it seemed toppy, you heard it here first.
