To draw another parallel with the US Hilary Clinton was unpopular and potentially enough Sanders supporters switched to Trump to push him over the line. washingtonpost.com Johnson would claim he did not drown the kitten in front of a big screen showing him drowning the kitten on repeat. And people would still vote for him. |

I think he would be more along the line of "Why would i drown a kitten, it doesn't make sense?" rather than making an actual statement.

Would that depend on if he drowned the kitten in the Irish sea?

LittleNemo - the one drawback of the Guardian guide is that it makes recommendations in three way constituencies. I don't think it should or can do that. (It does for 4 constituencies) My rationale is this: 1) Only 15% of voters will consider tactical voting 2) Therefore : It needs to be simple to maximise the flow of voters from one party to the other to work. If 8% go from Lab to Lib Dem and 7% go the other way, it's a waste of time, they cancel each other out. 3) It needs to avoid partisan rhetoric, otherwise neither side will endorse it. In contentious constituencies both sides will argue they should be the one. Three ways are inevitably contentious. (There is a bit of this in Putney based on a theoretical poll which is if you had to vote for one of two parties who would it be, but I'd say those are even dodgier than actual polls - because they are non-falsifiable). I'd say you cannot accurately make a recommendation on who is the main challenger. It is sad the Tories will inevitably come through the middle and frustrating. I also feel that Gyimah is for all intents and purposes a Tory, albeit a Remain leaning one. I would not vote for him. By the Guardian's OWN logic, therefore you should also vote Lib Dem in Truro/Falmouth. Yet they are recommending Labour???! Look at the positions below. Lib Dems also head Labour in the Truro Falmouth polls, but are behind the Tories. KENSINGTON Labour Emma Dent Coad 16,333 42.23 Conservative Victoria Borwick 16,313 42.18 Liberal Democrats Annabel Mullin 4,724 12.2 TRURO - FALMOUTH Conservative Sarah Newton 25,123 44.4 Labour Jayne Kirkham 21,331 37.7 Liberal Democrats Rob Nolan 8,465 14.9 So vote for who you want. |

Had a chat with a friend tonight who is kot a supporter of Scottish independence and has never voted SNP, but he sees that where we live any vote that is not SNP will let the Tory back in. However when the next independence vote comes he'll obviously vote against it. I wish more of our voters could see how simple that is. |

I have been thinking about that TQ but my worry is the SNP may forget the impact of tactical voting on their share and will say all their votes were for folk who want another referendum. I’ll likely vote SNP as I don’t want Tory - but if it leads to UK break up then I’ll not be too happy either. It’s like having an election about type of misery do you want Tory government or another Scottish referendum.

It is politics. If the SNP get a bigger share vote of course they will ask for a referendum, that is their stated aim......just vote against that if and when it comes along.
