Another referendum is going to be requested, no matter what the result of this election is. I believe it'll be turned down and then we'll be looking at international challenges as the the legality of one country trying to prevent another country deciding its own future. I think those wranglings will go on a long time before the next referendum. At that time, anyone who doesn't want an independent Scotland can bot against it. All of that said, if you and I know that a lot of SNP support during this election is coming from an anti Tory/Brexit vote, then you can be sure SNP leadership know that as well. Outwith all of that we have the upcoming Alex Salmond trial and goodness only knows what that'll throw into the mix ahead of the 2021 Holyrood elections. Also, even at this late stage, there's always the tiny chance Brexit doesn't happen and we don't know what that'll change. |

Personally I think voting for the snp if you are against independence is bonkers as we know that will be taken as a vote in favour of a referendum.

Which is worst - a perceived mandate for another indy ref (that will probably not win) or 5 years of BoJo? This election more than most seems to be about the least bad option. |

Assumes that Scotland don’t have Brexit and independence double whammy.

But the double whammy would be a painful transition period until Scotland rejoined the EU rather than an end game. So the choice remains the same for voters who want to remain in the EU as their highest priority.

They should rename this thread the "Hate on the Tories" thread. This thread is so far left that at work (where I have a two screen PC setup) I can read it only on my left hand screen. |

You're right (!) DV that there's a strong bias in the posters. With a touch of word play, my local constituency seems to be the same - the only posters up and around are Labour ones. But that doesn't fool me into thinking our local incumbent will necessarily survive the incoming electoral slaughter of the rational, compassionate and wise vs the opposition from the narrow minds and incompetent buffoonery on the right.

Maybe it’s because people who really watch what the political world is doing will gravitate to the left whereas being inattentive and uninterested in politics hides reality and allows you to drift right. I’m only half joking there. Actually maybe not quite half. |
