I ran at Durham a few years ago now, pre Covid. The start is near the car park, so I think I probably left any bags etc there. If it's just a bottle of water at the finish, I'd probably just scout out a tree or similar to pop a bottle by / in. Not much direct help, but it is a good half mile or more between the start and the end, and if you're staying in the town centre I can understand why you'd want to avoid heading back out to Maiden Castle. Not that Durham is that big though!

Durham is my local, assuming there's nothing valuable in the bag then there's a bandstand by the finish where some people leave stuff - it's on the route from the city centre to the start location, but depends where you are staying.

Thankyou, I’m staying at St Mary’s on Elvet Hill Road. I want to get back for breakfast if possible so time is of the essence, don’t want to go back to maiden castle!

As the only female only college at Durham (at my time there) Mary's had a mysterious allure as a young man!! Never set foot in there though, the woman who eventually decided I was marriage material kept me distracted back at our college instead!! 🤣

Ooh, snap! We left in 1993 (well, 1994 after I was one of the DSU sabbaticals for a year), well before Mary's allowed men. Have you been back at all?

You'll be surprised how close Maiden Castle feels compared to how far away it felt as a student!

I've run Durham parkrun just the once, as a stop off on the way up to picking son from Uni in Newcastle. Parked up at Maiden Castle and did a warm up run up to Mildert, past Aidan's, down across Prebends Bridge, along the Bailey, up Old Elvet and back down to Maiden Castle. That would have felt like quite the journey before I got into running, instead it took less than 30 minutes!!

As our times at Durham have overlapped, funny to think paths are likely to have crossed in some way all those years ago. Went back for the reunion dinner 12 months ago, plus ca change, plus ca meme chose!

Parkrun staff member doing an individual fundraiser?

Wtf is going on? Is Parkrun broke? Staff leaving, magazine cancelled (sponsor pullout?), staff doing fundraisers? Is this thing about to fail?

Person raises money for a chosen charity? You may be reading too much into it.
