I was chatting to someone and mentioned that there were a surprising number today who didn’t want a token and also not keen to take one and put in the yellow bucket. Two downright refused.

Anyway, the person I spoke to told me he once had a guy who refused a token but when he went to get scanned realised he needed one. He then returned and demanded a token and got very angry when told that wasn’t possible now unless he found it in the yellow bucket.

Some people are just odd

I wonder if that person had also attended a) the first timers brief and b) the main brief as taking a token is certainly mentioned at the former and often at the latter too. Or perhaps he just thought he needn't bother with listening to a brief or reading on a website how things work.

I was talking to a young guy walking back to the car today & spotted that he still had the token in his hand, he was duly dispatched back to the scanners.

Btw, I thought Eglinton Parkrun was a really good course.

When I have been on finish tokens I have had a few people who didn't want a token, so I just kept it myself and put it in the bucket at the end. I didn't think it was a problem.

It's easier if they do take it and just drop it - the person handing out tokens might not have anywhere to put a token and it can be tricky to manage at busy times in the funnel. Also fits with the simple messaging - if you enter the funnel then you must take a token at the end.

Cusworth Hall has a very odd route with a shared loop which you do twice. Lots of people cutting it short it seemed.

Also lots of v narrow paths.

You are right salkykate. It’s not a problem but does make it a bit harder for the volunteer especially at the busy periods. I managed it fine but just wish people would think first.

I know one time when I was on finish tokens and some people didn't want one I just dropped it at my feet
