But I accept that I am probably in a minority opinion.
And I respect that.

But the happy clappy bit is fundamental to all cults....without that it would just be some people going for a run in the park, it wouldn't be Parkrun at all

Personally I'd like to see some of the clappy stuff translate across to local races too; far too few runners thank the marshalls that are out there, or the organisers. OK, some of them are there for purely commercial reasons (though marshalls etc are usually volunteers in most cases at the very least), but making a point of thanking the volunteers through a cheer or a round of applause is the very least I think is courteous.

If all you want is a fast run round a measured 5k course with the minimum of fuss, then there's probably a measured 5k course in a park near to you which is free of happy clappy dog-walkers and fussy old social runners for 167 hours of the week.
I quite like the social, enthusiasm and encouragement. But that's probably just me.

I think the social element is crucial to parkrun.
When I have my 250th in the Summer (all being well) I will expect a fuss of some sort. Agree that people talking over the briefing is just rude. The RD has given up their Saturday morning to get the run on, its disrespectful to talk over their briefing.

We have two Eds - one who is loud when needed (me) and the other is a school teacher. We can usually deal with talkers during the brief!

57.5 Days of Pain
anyone who has attended my briefings will know that I can make myself heard! Only if my really loud and annoying dog is located well away from the briefing though .
I do try always to ensure that my really loud and annoying dog is located well away from the briefing.

I tourist around a bit.
I love a new/first time briefing that is at say 8:50 (especially when the website says it will be at this time) and then the newly shortened two minute briefing to kick it off and start near enough at 9.
Briefings that historically went on until 10 past whilst a volunteer or two is stood out at the furthest turn around point, thinking where is everyone? No thanks.
I do have to be ready with my watch before a briefing these days though.
Quite a few go through the motions and then immediately from the end of rules to starting eg a “no spitting… ready? 3, 2, 1 GO”

At the moment 75% of our turnout are still new/first timers so our first time briefing is still almost merging into the the 'main' briefing
