Fragile Do Not Bend
Topic for debate : How long will parkruns remain open in light of current Omicron panic ? Who knows? If the government announce a ban on non-essential travel and/or gatherings of more than 6, then they’ll have to cancel. |

Zorbba I am really hoping they don't close them again and see that they are low risk compared to indoor activities. Watching the Darts at the moment and see them all crammed indoors drinking etc.

Agree 200 % , Looby Loo , but we were quick to cave the last time .I really hope the much derided libertarians will come to the rescue .

I take the view that you can't catch covid (or anything else other than a chill) outdoors. Not strictly true but I think the risk is vanishingly small. Not sure if the powers that be would agree with me, though. |

I am seriously worried about barcode scanning on the next two Saturdays (which is what I am rostered to do). I will be wearing a mask but that only protects people who I breathe on/near. I am nervous about runners who are breathing more heavily from their run rushing up to me with their barcode especially if it is one of the less easy to scan ones. We are already looking at measures such as having a table that they put their barcode and token on then step back while it is scanned or asking runners to look away from the scanner.

We ask people to wait a couple of minutes after their run before being scanned. We also have cones to indicate where they should stand, a metre from the scanner so they are at arm’s reach. That said, it is extremely unlikely you would catch it outside from such a fleeting contact. |

Haven't we been through all this before? That the risk of infection at parkrun is miniscule? I'll be very disappointed if its cancelled at the moment, though if there is a two week 'circuit break' as mooted it will be understandable. |

Parkrun is low on the list of things to cancel, though missing a week or two would hardly be life or death. We’ll be over the peak soon enough anyway.
