I was thinking what Fozzy just said. Parkrun has evolved quite a lot since it was first introduced.

They'd hang their hats on the "free, weekly, timed" mantra though. parkrun wouldn't be parkrun without those components.

Actually, beyond the t-shirts it doesn't feel to me like it's changed much since my first in 2013; but I think I started when the acceleration really started to build.

(On checking my first run date, I remembered my one and only first finish at my home event, and was proud to see it's the third slowest first finish in the history of the event, only missing out on the podium because of two events which I'm pretty sure were compromised by snow!)

We've booked a holiday cottage in Faceby in July and I'm hoping we could do a parkrun near there. I saw that Northallerton is quite close and it rings a bell for me, is a Fetchie the ED?

Cough, when I started it was the "Cardiff Blackweir Time Trial".

Am I going to be sent to a re-education camp for my counter-revolutionary statement?

FWT says nothing about registration or unlimited numbers.

The aims of the charity say free and open to everyone.

The last few comments though saying how parkrun has changed are correct of course, except its still free and open to everyone. But that then doesn't fit with the complaints from a page before about how parkrun refuses to change? They clearly change over time as needed, but the free and open to everyone doesn't change.

My home parkrun definitely won't be starting in June, as Forestry England won't allow it in ground nesting season (although the birds nest out on the heathland, and the parkrun it 100% within a wooded enclosure, on gravel tracks.)

Those suggested temporary adjustments would not prevent the event being free and open to everyone though. Waves in some form still enable all as would pre-registration if used as a means to assess and gauge likely numbers ( as a tool to enable RD’s to plan required number of scanners in advance.

However, preventing wheelchair users and those with dogs could be seen by some as not adhering to the open to all bit even if there are valid reasons why those measures have to be introduced at some events.
