Aberdeen! I could fly up! One of only two destinations worldwide with direct flights from Humberside International Airport.
In terms of Newcastle, I *think* I've done Town Moor. Does that one go out of the park and down a pavement for a little bit?

[Yep For lap fans, the Town Moor Marathon, seven of them when it was last on, is a considerable builder of character... ]

[I'm sure I used to have a photo of me from way back when I could run 3.40 without thinking running past the bandstand at the Town Moor Marathon. 'Loved' the event, but it's taken to clashing with other stuff recently.]

Sorry if I've missed it but does anyone know for sure what Forestry Commission plans are? I've googled and can't find a source, but a local club race in Haldon Forest (a parkrun is held there) has apparently been told events aren't happening until Sept 21. That is what the club has said but I can't find a reference anywhere on the Forestry Commission site, and I don't know if that's just Haldon Forest, or Forestry Commission in general.

Would be interested in that too Big_G. Whilst they are making plenty of annoucements of opening FC venues as normal "go for a walk" options, they do have the option of remaining cautious for commercial and non-commercial organised activities on their land. Would be really interesting to be in parkrun HQ at the moment to get a flavour of what land owners are thinking which could extrapolate into the wider world from a non-parkrun perspective.

larkim, yes, it's interesting. Selfishly for me, I did see something elsewhere that UKA have given the go ahead for Dorney Lake Marathon, and other Covid secure events, to go ahead. Again, I can't see anything yet on their site, but Active Training World (the organiser of Dorney Marathon on 3rd April) has this morning posted that all their events have been given the go ahead. If that's on, I'm very much hoping that the events I've entered are also on. But I digress as that's nothing to do with parkrun, but I'm hopeful I'll be toeing the start line at covid secure events soon.

I think the issue at Haldon and presumably other FC events is that the general public have taken to going there in great numbers over the past year, so there is an issue with numbers. Mind you as they are charging £4 to park there I wont be rushing back

Hunkyteddy, yes, the parking situation does put me off too. It's a shame as it's a good event, and the coffee/cake is decent, but I do understand that the land does need money for maintaining. They do an annual parking pass for £38, but I have other more local events I can get to easier/cheaper. The other year, the race I mentioned managed to get some kind of deal where parking was included in the very reasonable entry fee.

It's not my nearest one anyway. The views are good and it's my kind of terrain, slightly tough but not boggy. I will do it again but as a 'treat'. Its good that there is the option of Riverside, Teignmouth and Parke not too far away, all offering different challenges
