Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'd d interested to know what parkrun HQ make of events encouraging runs in this manner, even if they are to be ran in isolation!

Don't see why they (or anyone else) would have a problem with it. Just people running independently and sharing it online.

Given that they've allowed the ability for people to personalise apricot shirts with names to represent their own temporary parkruns, I think they'd be fully supportive

I'd hope they were fully supportive, it's obviously a great idea.

It is a good idea but I might be asking what the story is with pacers - as referenced in the article - before giving it too much public support

Well it looks like the 'marshals' virtually cheered by posting encouragement on people social media. The pacers seems a bit strange, just agreed to run 5k solo at a set pace?

That’s what I assumed Stu re the pacers, and thought it sounded a bit odd, but I’d be interested to know how it worked.

(As an aside, my friend S has done a couple of virtual fake parkruns with some of his guide runners - he runs on the treadmill at home while the guide runs outside and they talk on the phone - well, heavy breathe down the phone at least! I haven’t attempted this with him yet, although another friend has suggested that she and I do a virtual speed session next week).
