There is a concept in transport planning known as 'induced demand'. Put very simply, the theory (as I understand it) says that if you build more roads you don't reduce congestion because you now have a 'better road' more people want to use it. I wonder if this is the case with parkrun as well. It has been common for new events to be added to take pressure of older more established events but in reality aren't more parkruns just creating more parkrunners and therefore adding to the existing problem at those events which are already at capacity? Thoughts? Whilst not the only reason for a new parkrun in the area, taking the pressure off existing events is part of the rationale for seeking out new locations locally.
