Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I’ve had to hurdle a (non parkrunner) dog before. We generally only get a couple of dogs so not a particular hazard but I agree with the problem of barking during the briefing.

Interesting mention as they have just banned dogs at Cannon Hill in Brum:

parkrun.org.uk

Wonder if it will impact the numbers.

I don't remember there being many dogs at Cannon Hill - though when I was doing it there were more like 500 - 550 runners instead of 900. South Birmingham really needs another parkrun to take some of the load from Cannon Hill. Edgbaston Reservoir? Selly Oak Park?

Funnily enough there is also a post on the CHp Facebook page about trying to set up some more Brum ones including Edgbaston reservoir.

And yes the last time I went was years ago probably no more than 500 runners it sounds a lot bigger now.

Birmingham City Council got over £1.5 million of lottery funding for Run Birmingham and there was a press release in 2015 about an initial roll out of 18 great run locals across the city. Looks like there's now only 2 events still operating, with almost 100 participants last week. Maybe they should have given some of that money to parkrun instead of Brendan Foster's company.

(Although I'm sure Run Birmingham is doing plenty of other good stuff.)

I suspect if parkrun continues as is and moves further away from a runniggn event it will be to the benefit of Great Run Local s I think a lot of runners would move across - I certainly would as parkrun becomes less about running and more about a touchy feely snowflake event.

I have never seen a great run event.

Only made 6 parkruns this year, may make 1 or 2 in May (maybe)

For me it has been steadily downhill the more it has grown and the more it has been about anything but running.
