Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

100,000 finisher for Cheltenham today :-)

'It'll never catch on', said a local runner when we were in the throes of setting up parkrun here :-)

My son got DQd today for finishing 8s ahead of his mother thanks to his sprint finish. This does not promote participation. If he had seen this then he’d be devastated.

Which parkrun WW? That's a bit harsh, do you know if she could see him cross the line?

That’s shocking. RD mentioned a few weeks ago about a kid finishing unaccompanied the previous but said he’d be an arsehole if he disqualified a kids time.

Name & shame WW - that's appalling. Even the corporate bigwigs at parkrun towers have recognised that a sprint finish, while the child remains in clear sight at all times, is a sensible exception to the 'arm's length' rule.

That’s tough WW, he must have been near his mother for all but the last few yards.

I've heard the within an arm's length rule be amended with 'apart from a sprint to the line'. I guess it depends on whether he was visible at all times and if the 8secs only occurred within the last sprint. Have they been warned before?

Upton CW. The finishing straight is dead straight as you know and was lined by his grandparents and dozens of friends from the club. Thankfully, I had run back after my own finish and was actually running along side him, we even have a pic so I hope to get him reinstated but still....

They did mention it in the briefing to be fair but Upton is such a friendly, well run pr that I never, ever thought it to be an issue....

Can’t really blame the organisers though, just applying the rules I suppose.
