Our volunteer who fainted last week when doing token giving, was back as one of timekeepers today. She didn't actually faint this time, but very nearly did (I found her leaning against a tree just near the finishing line.)

She's not going to volunteer for a while, at least until the weather warms up. I still think having something to eat between her tri club swim session and the start of parkrun would be a good idea ;-)

I remember time keeping on the day I found out I was pregnant with my eldest, I already had nausea and there was one who was sick near me, it didn't help my stomach! And funnel managing recently and someone was sick leaning out of the funnel twice, once to her right, then to her left!

LD I reckon yes, food would really help said volunteer!

I've thrown up twice in over a hundred PRs . Both times I was running like mad for a PB . It might be something to do with not having the right level of hydration, but I'm no expert...

Weymouth yesterday I found a little sticky but very flat, and as usual the hi vis heroes were very encouraging. Rain just about held off, which I gather didn't happen further West!

Oh dear, a bit of trouble at Hove Promenade parkrun yesterday. I didn't find out till today, but apparently, a runner shoulder barged a member of the public & shouted at them to "get out of the way."
The Run Director apologized & will also be writing a letter of apology to the people involved. Meanwhile, the hunt goes on for the runner.
I suppose it's hard to physically ban them, but if the person involved is ever identified, & they turn up to run again, one way of clipping their wings would be to refuse to scan their barcode.

We had a barger (of other runners, not another park user) a couple of years ago. We were able to identify him and our ED emailed him about the incidents. (There was more than one so they can't have been accudental.) Not making direct accusations but 'could he help with identification as he was in the vicinity of the incidents'. He denied all knowledge but AFAIK he's not come back since. We've not lost any sleep over him.

That's a very diplomatic way of going about it LazyDaisy. I'll mention this next week to the run director. Thanks for letting me know.

Yesterday, the runner who finished just ahead of me chucked his plastic water bottle over a fence halfway round the first of a two lap course through beautiful National Trust parkland :-( (not that it would be OK in any other park of course...) I mentioned it to the ED afterwards but the runner in question is unknown on the results so I guess nothing can be done.

Kinky S - or they could have been removed from the results due to their irresponsible behaviour - hence the unknown.

I know not everyone who runs parkrun is an angel, but chucking a plastic bottle mid 5-k is just mindless.

(And that's without wondering why at 1.25km into a race they've needed to consume the water in the first place, let alone why they need it at all, especially if they are swift enough to be ahead of KS!)
