Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Last time I timed I was caught out by the all-important fight for 15th place - three runners approached the finish in a right old sprint-battle, a few metres short of the line one of them gave it up and slowed to almost a walk. I was so geared up for three quick presses of the button that I did that as the first two of them crossed the line and the again for the now walker!

As others have said, it was easily resolved as I mentally noted the rogue press at position 17 and it could be removed from the record simply.

And ignore anyone who asks for their time as they cross the line (I'm still amazed that people do that, but they do :-()

I did suggest to parkrun HQ via twitter a few years ago that investing in a big timer clock on the finish line would alleviate that problem. I couldn't quite understand the reticence from them to consider that (excluding cost factors of course) - as at the time the mantra was very much that this was a "time trial" not a race, so it seemed to me providing a live "time" as you crossed the line was directly relevant.

Of course, it would open up a can of worms ("I just got my text and it said 23:42, when I crossed the line it was definitely 23:41 on the red clock, can you change it please because that is a PB and I have nothing better to do with my life" etc etc)...

But when I've timed I've had no issues shouting out a few times as people cross the line, especially if they don't have a watch on them. Though very few actually did ever ask for it.

larkim - not such a bad suggestion - the original parkrun Germany seem to have one...https://www.facebook.com/ParklaufDuesseldorf/photos/a.613383338814711.1073741859.605416119611433/722801394539571/?type=3&theater not sure we could get power up the hill at Lullingstone though ( at least not without hacking into one of the power pylons ).

Clock at the finish would be a nightmare for us at Crane. The start and finish are at different places in the park (1Km apart) and we lug everything (including everyone's bags) to the finish after we've set the runners going. We have a policy of using as little equipment as is necessary, I'm certainly not carrying a clock as well.

The time seems to have passed for events to declare their intentions for Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and the Christmas Compendium has been updated to only show those which have answered 'Yes' (I'm sure it also showed 'No' in previous years?).

I've updated my maps accordingly, to show 'Yes' on loading, but with 'No' and junior 'Yes' and 'No' as hidden layers if needed (no more 'Undecided' layers).

Christmas Day: 188 Yes, 299 No
New Year's Day: 234 Yes, 253 No
(not including future events)

New Year's Day: google.com

Does anyone here do Weymouth? I'm staying in Dorchester in a few weeks and fancy a bit of tourism. I'll be getting the train down from Dorchester and gather it's about a mile to the park. My main question is, is there anywhere to stash some outer clothing as I think it could be a tad cool.
