It wasn't too bad on the Thurso course in the end... the river valley was sheltered and I only got hailed on because it took me fucking ages today. Only one runner and the tail walker behind me! :-o

I bailed again on my unofficial milestone at Aberdeen. My ankle is better than it was but I still would have taken an hour or more to hirple round and I didn't want to inflict either me or the volunteers to that in today's wind! So it won't happen now as I'm hopefully touristing next week.

I have slight pangs of regret but the long lie was also welcome and I went for a walk instead.

Five Arches parkrun for my 113th tourist event.

A nice out and a bit back .. then proper out and downhill back. Narrow but ok with 200 runners.

Nice cooked breakfast at the Radstock Hotel afterwards. Always a plus🙂

Massive cloudburst at the start at Ayr today but then eased off with a couple more showers. Cold and muddy! Hands so cold at end it took forever to sort out my barcode and get scanned. Good run though in the conditions, especially as I was late to the start and caught the Tailwalker at the first corner.

No-one was hanging around afterwards! The finish area was getting blasted. Wasn't much of a 200 party! Hopefully we'll get better weather next time you're up this way. Next week isn't looking promising either right now! Autumn is always pretty windy and grotty.

Durlston Country Park for me today. Sunny but a bit chilly. It's a hilly one on the Dorset coast near Swanage. Recommend it, although my hill training is lacking, so I was slow.

Just to balance up the weather temperatures for yesterday's parkrunning..... Approaching 20 degrees at Rimini! Next week's post holiday run back home may feel a bit chilly

Volunteered at juniors yesterday, turned up to learn I'd been put down for timekeeping (gulp - timekeeper at juniors *used* to be my favourite role, but for some reason I've found it really stressful the last couple of times I've done it).

Anyway, off they went, and all was well.

Just as our usual first finisher started his second lap, my phone decided that this would be a good time to reboot itself for no obvious reason. So that was fun.

Given his usual pace, I've got about 3.5 minutes to get this sorted...

As soon as it came back to life, I opened the app and to my surprise not only was it still ticking away, but also the time matched that shown on the other timekeeper's phone.

Moments later, our young speedster came round the final turn and into the funnel and I clicked him in.

So it all worked out fine in the end - but it's not done anything to relieve the anxiety I've felt about timekeeping recently.
