Fizz :-)
I’d be happy to volunteer whilst MrsWotD does her best, even if that was more than 75 minutes. I’m not happy to volunteer for a nature ramble.

I'm happy to wait for a nature ramble. You never know what challenges a person or family have had to get out and how important it might be for them. Good luck to Mrs Wotd with continuing progress. G |

All the best to MrsWotD I am happy to accept we are all different and have our own views on what parkrun is/was and what we find acceptable. I don't make a fuss or campaign for change. I mention it in here as I feel comfortable that I will not be tortured for having a point of view. My approach is I just don't get involved with certain parts of parkrun :¬) |

Nature trails are fine but I don't think it's fair to have other people waiting around whilst you do one. I was getting really fed up that day, I was so cold as I wasn't walking fast enough to generate heat and they were faffing around. Another week another tailwalker thought the same group were just out to enjoy the park, didn't realise they were doing parkrun and finished in front of them - with the ensuing issues to the results. I'm with the folks who will completely support people doing their best, and if that takes over an hour then that's fine. |

Gobi I certainly didn’t intend any sort of torture or offence just wanted to say the issue of slow walkers is a contentious one. Thank you everyone for your kind words. As an aside I remember tailwalking with a father and 4 yo daughter about 10 years ago who very much did a nature walk. At the time a lot of regulars thought it was out of order, and it was certainly unusual then. She is now a really keen junior who charges round in times I can only dream of.

That's where junior parkrun has really come in to its own over the last few years in introducing youngsters to taking part. I often tail walk at one of our local ones and love the stories I get from the bairns, a couple of weeks ago I was learning about dinosaurs (some of which I had never heard of before).
