Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The bride has done the other two so Heslington it is. I wouldn’t have minded getting the N but maybe another time.

I’ll be at Heslington this week. Is my nearest per driving route although York is my nearest as the crow flies. Have done Heslington many times mostly as daughter did DofE volunteering there and was easier to run rather than just wait there.

It is a 5 lap course and not especially beautiful but there’s lots of parking (about a 5 min walk away) and a sports centre with toilets and cafe nearby.

I quite like being able to lap the tail walkers and see how many times I’m overtaken by the fastest people. And it is flat and so has PB potential.

It does run long at about 5.15km as you are unlikely to run the racing line.

York was quite narrow and congested for a bit. Or maybe I started too far back. I would be like to go back.

York does get congested at the beginning - I think if you’re fast you need near the front to avoid it.

I enjoyed York when I did it back in 2019 - despite taking around 27 seconds from "go" to me crossing the start line, and considerable congestion on the narrow course, I still managed to Bubka a shiny new 5k PB there.
I was so please, I even blogged about it - fetcheveryone.com/blog/92518/2019/12/400666

Bushy this weekend for me. We've got my sister's 50th on Saturday afternoon/evening and it's not too far away so booked an extra night to finally get Bushy ticked off.

York is a good course, I paced girlfriend Sal to her 2nd fastest parkrun. It was a bit windy on the last bit which just slowed her down but a nice event.
