Pales compared to your long runs Hilly but then the longest distance I intend to race is HM, not a full one.

Legs a bit stiff now, as much due to gardening this afternoon as my run this morning. Digging an entangled mat of tree roots out so we can plant a couple of camelias. Still not finished so will continue next weekend.

All that from the top 100 mm of a c. 1 m diameter patch of ground!

@Hilly stomach was not great yesterday and did limit my running as I started to feel sick in the second mile. The top HR graph is from yesterday the other from a similar paced 5 km in July so pleasing in some ways as know I can go faster but shows how far off effort I was as I just couldn't push. I am going to order some of those Voom that were recommended at Dereham.

The strange thing is I had no problems at all with my mile reps even when pushing really hard on the last one 🤔. Other than yesterday it has been pretty good. Thank you for asking 😊

Glad you were able to get a long run done @NZD and you PL seems to be stable 😊 The things that makes us runners happy! 😁

If I should survive to 85, I hope that I would still be able to run, although I'll never be able match Kathleen's efforts. ;-)

Sorry Solo that you're having gastrointestinal problems, I hope they get sorted out sometime.

Hilly, how did your wet run in rainy Wales go today?

My garden has given me a strenuous work out in the last 7 days - digging up several rows of potatoes over 3 days. I must have moved about 3 tons of soil :-o . That's not as bad as it sounds since the ground was devoid of moisture due to only 3mm of rain in the whole of August until yesterday's day long rain, plus my soil is quite light in texture.

At least Saturday's rain gave me a much needed break from activities since I didn't cycle the round trip of 30 miles to St. Ives as I normally do on Saturday mornings. Instead, I cycled there this morning. My next run will show me how wrecked or strengthened my legs are. ;-)

Solo - you're probably still not accessing all your energy stores looking at those graphs. Hopefully you can get it sorted soon. You'll be flying then!

10 miles done on the pretty Brecon and Monmouthshire Canal. Lovely!

I continue to be inspired by the training reported on this thread.

@NZD – a good solid long run. I look forward to when I will be able to run for more than 100 minutes.
@Solo, it a shame about the continuing stomach upset, but you clearly have potential for better things when the stomach settles.
@Hilly , that sounds like a delightful 10 miles.

This morning I did my 5th modified C25K session: I am persisting with a jog duration of 90 sec and walk duration of 60 sec. I did 20 repetitions within an overall distance of around 5.5 Km. I am maintaining a cadence around 185 steps/min which ensures a short stride length (in range 70-75 cm). My knee can cope with this with no complaint, though the swelling below the knee persists.

Flatlander- it was a lovely run! Sounds like a nice cycle today for you. Gardening is too much like hard work. 😅

Canute -.it's good that your knee is allowing consistency! 👍

My gardening is done organically so that does require some extra work, such as hand weeding instead of using herbicides, plus I grow my own crops were possible. Keeps me outdoors and sort of active and fit. :-)

Canute, nice to read of your steady progress.

Appropriately warned off Blencathra by weather forecast we opted for a walk round Crummock Water. With 40mph winds and heavy rain at base level that provided enough of a challenge. At one point @ElspethF was up to her waist in water on the official path.

@Flatlander I think gardening is very good for you and I find very therapeutic. Unfortunately I have regular visits from muntjacs so am a little limited to the plants I can grow 🙁

You have been so patient with your recovery it is great to read of your progress @Canute

I have a few things to try with regards settling my stomach for racing but otherwise I am probably feeling the fittest I have this year. Completed this week on 63 miles.
