Nellers Nov 2024 11:25am, 26 Nov 2024 44,277 posts	0 Nellers Paddles up was such a big deal in the canoeing world at the time but when it ended it didn't really have any noticeable impact, in the way that I think trialling benefited from Kickstart. However, at the latest Olympics they had medals for Canoe-X which owes more than a little to Paddles Up as a TV/Spectator friendly event, so maybe it just took time for the generation that watched it to get old enough to be running the sport.

Now that streaming platforms have outbid terrestrial TV for all major sports, maybe it's time for BBC / ITV to support the minority sports like this by showing them more often?

I want to try diet and exercise then retest before I start on statins. MrsHL has given me A Book About It. Better than A Look About It, but only slightly. And my ten year heart attack risk is about 12%. That ought to improve if I can set to work on my cholesterol and actually do the exercise I keep promising myself to do. Wimped out of parkrun yesterday morning but I did go for a nice walk a bit later in the morning. Baby steps.
