As a friend commented when another friend chose the 'healthy' option for a brunch, 'That's another five years in the care home'

I've just had fried chipolatas - but they were vegan.* So, one hand, then the other.
The crisps and pancake (separate) that followed them probably sit firmly on one of the hands though. More calories than the dinky weights I just moved in the gym used.
* Fried in sunflower oil though so VERY BAD as someone on This Morning informed me the other day, sunflower oil having been developed in the 1950s for cleaning tractors. Then again, as they also advocated starting the day by whipping coconut oil into your coffee, I'm happy to pop them in the CFI box. They have a bestseller on "nutrition" out, apparently.

I didn’t expect to join the thread and talk about impending death
Just to join in the ‘fun’ though, my BP tends to be on the lower side if anything, and I do sometimes experience going dizzy when standing up - hydrating well appears to help this.

Frying in sunflower oil and putting coconut oil inside your body with or without coffee are both suboptimal choices for different reasons. But not actual poison.

Too right Vrap, lard is always the best choice.
Cath, we’re 50, what else is there to talk about?

I bought my first jar of coconut oil just last week, having had some flapjacks made by my daughter-in-law which were really tasty and used the stuff. Why should I not open the jar V'rap?

Fragile Do Not Bend
I’m NOT putting lard in my coffee.
I do like coconut milk in my coffee but that’s from a flavour point of view.

Welcome, Meeps
LD, if you like the taste of coconut oil then use it (I sometimes do, in curries) but it's one of those foods that's had better press than it deserves with regard to health (see also: peanuts and tree nuts). It's a highly saturated fat, "unhealthier" than butter or lard, and doesn't have the merit of being chemically stable at high temperatures.
It's also not a good substitute for toothpaste.
Coconut milk is best used as a flavouring rather than as a replacement for actual milk.
