There were ads everywhere. Due to the v. poor state of my teeth I was tempted. Instead, I have been paying an arm and a leg in the UK and now... mid way through my treatment I can't see a dentist and my teeth are going back to their default positions.

But you REALLY do not want implants going wrong. And many dentists are not equipped to maintain them other than basic cleaning. Yes, my Fetch name is not unrelated to my profession Garfield, and the tough marathon training schedule I was following.
