I was told exactly the same thing by the reception lady at the dentist who sold it to me, Glenn - brilliant, but messy.

Was hoping for over 50s glory in a v small local 10K next month. But as I'm running like a bag of spanners at the moment, ain't gonna happen, I fear!

Was fun being granddad last week. :-) G

What's making your running suboptimal at the moment, :) G?

I can relate to the bag of spanners thing, but now that I've sold my ticket for what would have been my target autumn race I'm OK with being off form.

The 2nd best part of being a grandad must be the handing back and revelling in the peace and quiet afterwards. I can only hope that my children produce in time and I can become a grandad before it’s too late for me to enjoy them.

Me too, although having had mine late it's a bit of a worry.

No immediate prospect of grandparenthood here. I'm in no hurry.

Lack of training V'rap! Ain't no excuses! For me: more miles, more gym to support more miles, more speed. It's not complicated! But requires a bit of application!

This is my fall back target - was Brussels marathon, sacked that off as not happening when mileage was poor. Did a wee half in July that was meant to be build up, but it was woeful (fun, but poor performance), so now got 2 x 10Ks.

Guess what - they will be rubbish too, cos I haven't done enough. This is not a surprise!

What stopped you in your tracks (nice graph of improving WAVA for a while there)? I agree, I have no problem with being rubbish. It's not like it's unexpected! Just need to reset expectations for my wee races. At least they will be one within the hour (one hopes!) And Stirling and Anstruther are short journeys and quite nice destinations! :-) G

With no children (in my case), there won't be grandchildren either. In case you're wondering, I've never wanted children...and it's literally the case that I've never had 'that' biological clock making me want any. I'm just not the maternal sort and would have neglected any offspring I did have!
