+1 for sugar on lettuce. Strawberry jam and banana sandwiches are still a favourite. |

Pre kidney transplant, bananas were an absolute no no due to their high potassium content. Now however they are still real a treat (as long as they are a little underripe).

Oh yes, sugar sandwiches, I had forgotten about them, also mashed banana sandwiches, we kids knew how to live.

Banana pudding - bananas liquidised with milk. My favourite pudding of my childhood!

Nope, can't say my mother ever would have fed me sugar sandwiches...she rarely let us eat much sugar as children. That led to me and my sister enjoying chocolate bars and crisps for breakfast when we were grown up! And me binging on very large Caramilk bars periodically as a teenager (sickly sweet).

Raw rhubarb dipped in sugar, that brings back memories. Sugar sandwiches too, though only as introduced by a girl cousin; don't think my mum would have approved. Elder Daughter (when she was a little girl) used to like mashed bananas with brown sugar and a little milk, poured into ice lolly makers and frozen. Was a wonderful way to use up nearly-going-black bananas. The lollies looked discouragingly grey, but that didn't put her off. |

Yikes! Crocking my shoulder could have more serious consequences than I thought (I'm back to being able to do some press-ups, but not as many and not as deep as before.) I find the idea that pushup performance predicts cardiovascular health more plausible than that thing about getting up off the floor without using your hands. This may be because it suits me to believe that something I can do is more useful than something I can't imagine ever being able to do. |
