Sounds like Hellen gave the best possible response.

I found in fact the very page in which Mr Huffman makes a Startling Revelation, and some Opinions subsequently are Strongly Expressed: fetcheveryone.com/forum__3882__1169__heart_rate |

They are indeed strongly expressed. I don,t know why I should be so shocked to find *bs* on a MHR topic. Just the depth of futility (as we only ever compete with one person) I guess. *waves to Phidip* I started off using the 220-age (its in the GARMIN maual) as a rough guide to my 80% of running at an easy pace, Phidip. My real pace for 80% of my running is 1min per km better than that aaaannnd although 1 min/km faster its easy! Hi ho got off to a slooow start, but good old Fetchland sorts this stuff out bless its cotton socks. Which is another thing I've learned from this site.... never put those socks in a toaster. |

Thanks for that Dvorak. Reading it 9 years later and as someone who wasn't around at the time, it was quite comical, although obviously not for the people affected. |

Lordy. I like the bit where Huff claims he's a very patient man. I remember getting in a massive row with him about the physics of treadmill inclines; I was trying to use logic and physics, he was arguing that he'd been to a good university so he must be right. He didn't come across at all patient when I pointed out the fallacy in that.

I'm rather glad I've never ventured onto that thread I'm just glad my heart is still beating after a run (or at any time) though I have read up on 'Splanchnik shunts' after seeing some bizarre readings occasionally. Is it my imagination or has Fetchland become more mellow now? |

I've been here only 8 years so I can't comment on Fetchland's mellowing. However, a couple of people post comments on other threads which are sometimes aggressive and condescending to the views of others. They justify their behaviour as "just being blunt", failing to see the difference between that and aggressiveness. The overwhelming number of Fetchies are prepared to discuss and accept that there are different viewpoints, which benefits everyone. |

There are still some, let's say, 'robust' threads if you want one!

But there's an awful lot of huggery muggery too!
