Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Another sea swim for me this morning, stayed in for 12 mins with no ill effects. My hands were still cold and I had to stop and get them out of the water 3 or 4 times before I acclimatised. I might try some sailing gloves to see if they're any warmer.

I've tried open water a couple of times (in the local dock), and would like to think about going again, but obviously it's a bit chilly right now! Does anyone have any advice on reasonably priced wetsuits for those of us who've become more, er, "generously proportioned" of late?

Like most things, when I look at size charts, it seems that nobody makes anything for people who are my size and shape...

Andy - there's some discussion on wetsuits for 'generous portions' from about page 467, and a recommendation to look at Alpkit.

And yes - all shapes, sizes, experiences and water types catered for here

Today's swim was epic! This opinion may be weather based... see next week's comments for verification. ;)

Thanks, @TheScribbler - I've looked at Alpkit, and if their size chart is anything close to accurate, I'll be way too large :(

I suspect my first swim this year is going to be rather short...

I'm a little nervous about the cold... planning not to be in too long, then if I come out early, that's the plan so it's okay, but if I stay in longer, bonus.

There didn't seem to be a thread devoted to open water swimming, so I thought I'd start one.
