We did our first ice swim today.. ice was at the water edge so not sure it’s hard core but it was blummin freezin! Me little knees loat all feeling. Weirdest thing. As I am in shorts still (montane run kit. Bloody ace) when I get out I notice my skin wrinkles around me knees?? Weird!

Comes back once you get moving again

So love ice cold swims. Just unbelievable feeling

I haven't continued going in. Today was tempting as, although it was freezing, the sun was shining and no wind. Luckily the tide was out and I had no towel/kit ;-)

Just started reading A boy in the water. Made me realise how much I miss swimming (even as a 2:30+ swimmer)!

I came across a lovely film about a woman starting swimming. It's about 30 mins long and well worth watching. I added it to my blog today.

Anyone doing the Polar Bear Challenge here? Am doing the PB Gold - and thankfully got the 5 km swim in before the lockdown. Managed the Nov/Dec/Jan 250s - and hoping somehow that the lakes open up for the Feb/March swims ….. as the sea too far and the flow in the rivers to strong at the mo.

It's my fist winter of skins swimming and the highlight of my week now - having an icy dip wherever possible :-)
I do still wear a wetsuit for very long swims or swooshes - to be safe !

I'm thinking of trying an icy dip in the next few days and have been taking some cold showers post run to get a feel for it. Definitely not by myself though.

Beautiful swim this morning. And tried my second swim/run

Todays was fab. Now we are swimming in skins it is even better.. so I wear my sports bra swimming and when back at the car can just chuck on my shorts and run kit. The bra is damp but not soaking and doesnt seem to be an issue

Was so fab today I had a ending dunk with no gloves and just in shorts and vest top

Officially hooked!

Oh to live by the proper coast! You lot are so lucky to be able to swim. All the swimming lakes in Bristol are shut - there's a marine lake in the next county but we can't travel to it.

There didn't seem to be a thread devoted to open water swimming, so I thought I'd start one.
